Showing Up & Loving People

Jesus on Colfax began by simply showing up: knocking on motel doors on Tuesday nights, sharing food, building relationships, and praying with our friends. That commitment to presence remains at the heart of everything we do.

Today, the Family Room serves as a welcoming drop-in space where individuals can connect, grow, and take meaningful steps toward well-being. Through our empowerment model, participants earn points by attending classes, caring for their space, and pursuing personal goals, which they can then use in the Family Room store for food, clothing, and hygiene items.

In 2025, we expanded this work with the launch of RISE, a residential job-skills program designed to support deeper healing, stability, and long-term sustainability.

HOW WE SERVE THE COLFAX COMMUNITY

  • A woman and a man sitting on a couch, holding hands and talking to each other. The woman has long hair and is wearing a jacket, the man is bald, wearing glasses and a puffy jacket, and is smiling at her.

  • Two young people, a male and a female, working together on a woodworking project in a workshop, surrounded by tools and wooden beams, with string lights overhead.

    JOC Family Room

JoC has a drop-in center where people earn points by attending classes and taking other steps toward their goals. Points can be spent like cash in the Family Room store on food, clothing, and hygiene items.
